How soon? On sale since Oct. 14. A gas-electric hybrid version, IS 450h, is due in late spring.
I think he probably confused it with the GS450h which is due in May next year . . .

He did get one part wrong:
"Lexus created a new platform for the IS. It's not derived from the previous IS or other models in production. So it's hard to understand why Lexus didn't make it just a bit larger. If you are buying a four-door sedan, you expect to use the back seat. Otherwise you'd be shopping for coupes and two-door sedans. "
The platform though *IS* derived from another model. The IS chassis is derived from the new GS chassis.

• Who'll buy? Lexus says they're likely to be 35 to 45 years old, 50% to 60% men, have $100,000 to $120,000 annual household incomes.

I am with the guy above on this comment. Don't meet this criteria, so does this mean I have to cancel my order too?

I wouldn't worry about that. I'll have my Lexus with my cups of Ramen noodles in my 800 s.f condo as I read a book on a bare floor because I can't afford cable TV nor sofa.

Oh and your daugher and/or son too, she and/or he probably won't fit in the backseats anyway.

I'd venture to say (based on the responses to the "what's your age" thread) that a large number of the posters on this forum don't meet the age category, regardless of income. =)
Most people here seem to be at least mild "enthusiast" types -- hell, we're all posting on a model-specific car forum, so we aren't exactly daily drivers. Those who are progressively more enthusiastic are going to be willing to spend a larger portion of their income on a car, of course, so the salary ranges will be completely off. Lexus is just shooting their demographic at people who are likely to want to pay about 7-10% of their monthly gross income towards a car payment, a very reasonable figure for someone who mostly wants the car for point-A to point-B travel with luxury comfort (and maybe a little bragging rights, if you're talking about the 350).
