ML versus stock
I really want to get an IS but the ML isnt available in my region yet (thats what i've concluded). I liked the stock radio i heard, but people have been saying the ML is awesome, is there really a big difference other than the DVD and 6 cd thing? and could it later be upgraded?
I second that opinion. It does make a big difference. Bring your favorite CD to your local Lexus dealership and do a comparison. As for future upgrades, I rather have it factory installed due to the complexity of the integration of NAV and audio components.
I'm of a different opinion. I'm not a serious music guy. I spend more time listening the CNBC on XM than I do listening to cd's. I did get a chance to sit in a car w/ ML. It was an executive program car. I honestly could not tell the difference between the two..so opted not to spend the extra $1400. Instead, I got the Lux pckge with HID, Illuminated scuff plates, Telescoping steering wheel, chromatic mirrors w/ auto tilt, auto wipers and sun shade for about $2K extra. Diff between a $42.2 and $42.9 car. Too each his own, though. Good Luck!
ML is definitely better thatn the "stock" system but the "stock" system comes with 200 watts and 13 speakers. I would say it is superior to other "stock" systems in the entry luxury sedan market. The g35 comes with 6 speakers standard, BMW 3 Series 10, Acura TL 8. So, going on speakers alone...the IS system is superior. Of course, that is only one facet of a system.
