Default HID conversion

wat is the difference between the single beam HID, dual beam HID, and the bi -xenon HID... and will all 3 fit the IS?

Dual beam means both high and low beam HID; so does bi-xenon. Both low and high beam in the IS's bi-xenon come from the projector lens, which has a motorized reflector/shade inside; and the DRL's high beam is for flashing only. If you go with aftermarket bulb conversion, you will need to replace the DRL lamp with HID, but you can't have DRL. McCullough is the name of a kit, whereas Philips is one of a few manufacturers of HID bulbs. Most aftermarket HID kits have modified Philips bulbs plus ballasts (where the quality varies widely). Replacing the whole headlamp assembly with aftermarket kit doesn't make economic sense, not to mention you don't get autoleveling and adaptive lighting.

Just got my HID kit yesterday. It is McCulloch 5k kit. I hope it won't take a lot of time to install the kit.

How much was your HID kit?

Would be nice to see pics of the kit after it's installed as well as a description of how difficult/easy it is to install.

Talking Hid Kit Install

Hello I am new to club lexus.
(H11 BULBS NOT H1
I have a Is 350, the hid 0aftermarket kit install is kinda tricky.
The tools you will need is a 10mm bolt driver, phillips screw driver, flat head screw driver, rubber gloves, and 2 black 99 cent gloves
step 1----remove the 4 dust covers
2----on the left side remove or lift up the air filter holder and you will see the headlight dust covers, slide the dust cover lock back. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE BULB . just feel for it, pull the wire harness apart its two pieces one is a plug extensionturn the bulb counter clockwise and remove the bulb.
3----now to the right side take to 10mm bolt out of the washer fluid extension and move the funnel to the left dont worry you wont hurt it. Now take that headlight dust cover off and feel for that bulb and remove it the same way as the left.
4----put the HID bulbs in please use rubber gloves to protect the bulb (I UNDERSTAND ITS KINDA FUNKY PUTTING THE BULBS IN SIDEWAYS LIKE THAT
5----take the black gloves and stuff them into the hole near the bulb (this is to protect your lens from dust and moisture PLEASE DONT CUT YOU HEADLIGHT DUST COVERS UNLESS YOU HAVE EXTRAS IT VOIDS THE WARRANTY)
6-----put your ballast in the hole by the air filter on the left and on the right in the hole by the washer fluid funnel (dont mount or drill just stuff them in EASY REMOVAL IN CASE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM
7-----put you engine dust covers bak on (they are labeled ) and you are all ready to go

ONE THING THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS WILL NOT WORK TO TURN HEADLIGHTS ON WHEN YOU START THE CAR THE HEADLIGHTS WILL COME ON AND SHUT BACK OFF BECAUSE THE CAR GOES UNDER 11 VOLTS AFTER THE START SEQUENCE. JUST TURN THE SWITCH TO PARK ING LIGHTS AND BACK TO HEADLIGHTS

IT SCARED ME AT FIRST
*****************************www.hid-lights.com***they only use ups to ship which is great******

No you will not be able to install the duct cover. Thats what the 2 gloves were for
Be careful ( I FORGOT YOU MAY HAVE TO CUT THE PLASTIC PIECE ON YOUR KIT TO FIT THE WIRES IN THE HARNESS MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE THE SLIDE IN BLADES CONNECTED TO THE WIRES RED WIRE =BLUE WIRE (lexus HARNESS)
BLACK WIRE= BLACK WIRE (lexus HARNESS}

The Hid ballast or starter will not fit in the hole where the bulbs go (please dont try), they will fit in the front of the air filter holder near the high beams on the left and in the hole near the washer fluid funnel on the right

Also use a cordless drill to adjust your headlight beam down. (ITS QUICKER)

also you may have to cut the Hid power harness so that the blades will fit in the lexus harness blue wire is positive black is negative
I used a hot glue gun so that the blades will stay in the lexus harness holes (HOT GLUE IS EASY TO REMOVE VERSUS CUTTING)

SORRY NO PICS YET, I WENT OUT OF TOWN AS SOON AS I FINISHED THE INSTALL
PICS WILL COME
