audio system questions
It has been reported elsewhere in this forum that the ML audio system will be available either integrated with the nav system, in which case the ML will play DVD's and DVD-Audio discs, or as a stand-alone option (not bundled with the nav), in which case the ML unit will not play DVD's or DVD-Audio discs.
Comparing the specs for the stock and ML audio systems, it appears that the ML system adds and changes speaker locations to support DVD playback. Thus the stock system has the same set (or at least the same-sized set) of three speakers in each door, 6¼", 2½" & 1", plus an 8" woofer on the rear deck. The ML system adds a 2½" speaker in the top of the dashboard, reduces the rear door mounted speakers to two, 1" & 4", and adds two 2½" speakers to the rear deck. The new front and rear deck speakers are apparently for center (dialog) channel and rear (ambience) channel signals, which is consistent with the DVD and DVD-A capability.
But in an audio-only setup, I'm not sure that those speaker locations make a lot of sense.
So question #1 -- does anyone know if the "standalone" ML option uses the same speaker configuration as the integrated/DVD ML system?
And audio question #2 -- does anyone know if the standard Pioneer-based Lexus audio system is compatible with Pioneer's relatively inexpensive iPod interface adaptor (CD-IB100) shown here?
Thanks.

#1. - Not sure
#2. Generally stock audio systems are proprietary, therefore they won't have room for any modification regardless of if it's the same manufacturer's part or not.
