Default Tpms

Hello, I have a 2011 IS250 and bought new tires in April at Costco. The TPMS yellow signal appeared, and I went to Costco to check it. They told me I needed 1 new sensor and I bought a sensor and had it installed. The yellow light is still on and Costco said the device they used to check it shows all sensors as "OK." They said I needed to go to the dealer because they didn't know why I was having this problem. Is another solution possible? The dealer will charge over $100 to do a diagnostic and additional for any work needed.. Any suggestions appreciated.

If you have a set up for 2 sets of wheels like I think that model does make sure it's set to the right settings. Not all shops have the same experience so it might be something easy.

I have an appt at the local Discount Tire to have new TPMS modules installed. They say that if the TPMS modules are bad, that new units should fix the problem. They say that they reset the TPMS for all makes and models every day, Lexus being no exception. Does that sound right?

Thank you for your response. Costco said it was a problem specific to my car.. I guess I could ask them to reset the sensors again. They took a picture of the sensors on their device and they all show "OK." The pictures are on my iphone.

Mr Birnbaum,

I would urge you to see my post under 'TPMS sensors proprietary?'. Costco tyre depots are wonderful but I fear they cannot help with this one.

I once had a 4Runner that had a TPMS sensor on the spare. I was lucky enough to figure it out before I brought it somewhere, because the 4 tires on the pavement had the right pressure. Added air to the spare and the TPMS light disappeared. I'm not saying this is your problem, but it's worth a little time to check the pressure on your spare.

My TPMS light came on my 2008 IS250 so checked/and added air to the right pressure. Drove around the neighborhood for about 1/4 mile and the light went away. Not sure if newer models do this or need to be reset.

For those still interested, there is an item on e-Bay which the seller claims is compatible with many Lexus models, including the Series 2 IS. Their price per sensor is £ 20 (US $ 22).

The sensor frequency is 433 MHz and the model is DuroSense TPMS Metal Valve Tyre Pressure Sensor PRE-CODED for Lexus | DS066LEX.

I would certainly give these a try.

My 2007 IS350 Sensors were going out. Went to Costco to get new sensors. Costco could never get it them to work. They said to go to Lexus to see if they can get them to work. Lexus could not get them to read. So Lexus put Lexus OEM ones which worked. Returned the Costco sensors to Costco.

What year, make and model car? What sensor did Costco install?

2007 Lexus IS 350. Not sure what the Costco Sensors were. It is whatever brand they use in the Costco Tire Center. They could never get the Car to Read the Sensors, so Costco said to try and have the Lexus Dealer try to get them to read. The Lexus Dealer could not either. So I ended up having the Lexus Dealer install new Lexus OEM sensors and they worked.

A bad ECU or TPMS receiver can be an issue but it’s rare. Most of the problems after installing name brand aftermarket sensors is user error. People don’t follow directions because on the other 10 cars before it worked. I’ve solved a lot of problems starting from scratch and following the listed procedures. In general Lexus TPMS systems are basic. 2013-2022 can have some more complicated sensors and newer models got easy to work with again.
