Default Center Console Screen Going Bad?!

Yesterday the screen went black, restarted saying SYSTEM UPDATING, went black again, and now when I press the Menu button it says "external system not connected", but the side buttons Climate, Radio etc still work the screen comes on and the touch commands work , but then screen goes black again. I assume this means the screen has gone bad but I dont know if it will get worse and go totally dead!!

Don't know anything about the NAV package issues, but common sense troubleshooting: "the screen has gone bad" would be a hardware issue, what you are describing seems like a software issue, or the issue with the hardware of the NAV unit, not the issue with screen itself, since the screen still works fine (display, touch). There's more info here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...nnected-2.html . Best of luck...

First try the battery unhook reset route (30 secs) and see if it resets and go back to normal, good luck.

There are some diagnostic tools available. Click on the carrot to the right of "Quote" to go to the original post for screenshots in gif video.

1) Vehicle stopped in park, with engine on, turn the light switch to OFF.
2) Press and hold the Info button and turn the light switch on then off 3 times.
3) The touch screen will go into a new mode offering options for equipment versions, hardware versions and diagnostic features.

You will also find settings for mic input and bluetooth volumes. Could be helpful if someone can't hear you. Here are some crappy pictures. Units with Nav will have more options.Turn the key off when done.

#2IS Audio Test
Looks like you lost communication to Nav and or hard drive crashed.
