Default 2003 Is300 overheat issue

Hey guys im fairly new here. Been having some issues recently with my IS. Just recently changed my radiator, had a big *** hole in it. Also replaced my thermostat and the cooling fan switch at the bottom of the radiator. I ended up changing that switch because I was still having some overheating issues after changing the radiator and thermostat. I noticed the fan wasn't kicking on but would kick on if I had the AC on for example. So I checked the relays relay seem to be fine, then I shorted out the plug at the bottom of the radiator and the fans kicked on so I figured the switch was toasted and replaced it. Still having some overheating issues the only thing I can think of is replacing the coolant temp sensor on the hot side of the engine but I'm not a hundred percent sure if that actually regulates current going to the fan switch or not. I'm pretty sure it's not my water pump because I can grab the upper radiator hose and feel coolant pumping through it and I'm not noticing any slipping on the belt or anything like that.

I'm basically just trying to find out if that coolant temp sensor regulates any of that power going to the fan switch or the fans.

The coolant sensor on the head next to the coolant outlet to the radiator is the sender for the gauge cluster. This doesn't affect the fans at all but it will affect accuracy of the coolant gauge. I believe it also feeds ECT to the ecu as well and would affect how the car drives.

It sounds like you need to see what the logged value is for the engine coolant to know if your car is actually overheating or not. As 1997 Soarer said.
