Windscreen problem
I'm from Hong Kong and I own a 99 IS200. I know this is a forum for IS300 but I really need your input. Hope you don't mind.
My windscreen was damaged sometime ago and I recently had it replaced with a new Lexus brand windscreen (which costed much more than their generic brand) at a shop in Hong Kong. I noticed the difference in quality between the old and new windscreen when I subsequently drove my car in the rain. With the old windscreen, the rain would form round droplets when it falls on the glass, a bit like water on a wax surface. But with the new windscreen, the water would scatter all over the glass instead, which makes it difficult to see in the rain. I suspect the shop sold me an imitation or a fake, which is not unusual in Hong Kong.
My question is - is there any thing I can put on the windscreen to make it better, perhaps some wax or polish? I don't want to go back to the shop to negotiate for a refund yet (which would be a complete nightmare) until I try the other things first to see if they work. Any ideas?

One possibility is that your old one had recieved a wax coating from an automatic carwash, another, possibly someone has coated it with a reain repellent at one time. Japanese made toyotas should come from the factory with a "Lamisafe" brand windshield. Check the bug on the corner of the glass and see what manufacturer is there. As for curing it, I don't know what products are available, but we have a product called Rain-X, and there are a few others also, they are cheap and only have to be applied every couple months.
I don't know anythig about the seller, just the first link I found. Search google for rain-x
