Bad to floor it?
Hi all,
Recently I bought a in mint condition IS300. It has 150k miles on it and it's maintained perfectly (Lexus dealerships). Car drives like new.
My previous car was a BMW 318i, when I test drove this IS300 I fell in love, so much better....
So I went to my buddy to show him my car...he told me this car is a lot faster than the BMW and it has a 2JZ engine and he really pushed me to floor it and I did (we blew away). I felt really bad after flooring it because I always drive my car like it's my baby. He told me that full throttle/kickdown doesn't do any damage on the car/engine, especially since it's a 2JZ engine. He actually told me it's good to floor the car sometimes since it cleans out the engine. Since then I floor it sometimes because it's so cool and I really love the kick of it (speed and sound), but I REALLY ask myself if I'm not doing damage on the car/engine. In how far is my buddy's story true? Is it fine to go full trottle once in a while? Once in a while = 1/2 times a week for me and I drive the car almost every day.
I always do a full warm up (first miles max. 2k rpm), I'm only flooring it when the engine is fully warmed up and only in straight lines (if that makes any difference). What do you guys think?
Thanks for the help!
BTW amazing forum!!!!! lots of info
