Just picked up a 2001 IS 300 a couple of months ago.
Really didn't know what it was just needed a car after my wife whacked a deer with my Camry and the price was right.
Well now I know what I have and will never get rid of this car.
Question.... in Manual mode car will only downshift to 2nd and not 1st....is this common or do i have a problem I need to get addressed?
To my knowledge car is bone stock.

welcome. congrats on the IS. I believe the downshift from 2 to 1 is inhibited by design if the car is rolling. If the car is stopped the car should be able to be placed in 1st.

I concur with jadu's comment. That's how toyota designed it. There's no reason to e-shift down to 1st if the car is moving anyway
