Hello, new here, have a question on alarm. :)
Hello, I'm new here.
I should be getting an IS300 Intensa Blue Pearl 5spd in the next few weeks. (At least that's what the dealer tells me).
I had a question on the factory alarm. I don't want to give the dealer any more money than is needed. Does the factory alarm disable the ignition? Cut fuel? Is it passive or active? Any info you can give will be great. Thanks.
Great site you guys have here.

The alarm does cut the ignition system. It also has a built in glass breakage sensor. It will automaticly relock the doors, and disable the doorlocks. Also when the horn blows a third horn is added to increase the volume. The alarm will only sound for 1 minute. The alarm is active but has a passive mode that needs to be turned on thru the cbes system.
Passive mode: when you exit the vehicle without locking the doors. The alarm will set, but it does NOT lock the doors for you. When you re-enter the car the alarm will not sound until 14 seconds have elapsed, during this time you must insert the key and turn the ignition on.
Most newer lexus models have passive mode, i.e. GS/LS/RX/IS/SC/ES

Hey cool, thanks guys for the reply. Good to know the factory alarm is sufficient. I should be picking up the car today.
What is the cbes system?

CBES: Customize Body Electrical System
There are many features that can changed by way of cbes. Auto headlights sensitivity, fresh air rec mode, door lock functions, and many more. PM me your e-mail and I can send you a list in a pdf document. Too many to list.
note: only the dealer can change these mode by way of a tester that plugs into the car. Should be done free of charge.
