Default Is it worth putting 3,000 into?

My son has a 2002 with 180,000 on it. He is the second owner. The first owner took it to Lexus for all service checks. The manual transmission was replaced at 40,000 miles. He now needs another. It will cost 3000 to replace because they have to do the flywheel too. He loves the car. His dad says it isn't worth it. I see nothing else wrong with the car.

What do you think?

Totally worth it. I have 205k on mine. Proper maintenance will let it run a long time. Its also a pretty safe car.

Done. I started searching on Autotrader and realized that if the rest is fine, it's worth it. Only problem is that his loaner was a 2014 IS250. He says that he loves his car, but it's going to be hard to get back into it after driving the new. Study kid, study!

Totally worth it. New parts will hopefully help the car last another 75-100 miles.

Or buy a used transmission for $300-$400, clutch and flywheel for $300-$400, and shop labor should be $400-$500, if you were close to me, ID do the labor for $200, take an afternoon to do it....
