Alternative Solution for Navigation in Non-Navigation Models - Pics
After trying for months to find an OEM stock housing unit for a decent price (the cheapest I could find was $300), I decided to try something completely different.
So my model came with the storage compartment in the dash:

I purchased the seven-inch Garmin 2797LMT:

I also purchased the Arkon GN042 mount:

I cut a small hole in the bottom of the in-dash compartment and ran the GPS power wire behind the radio:

And here is the finished product:

The GPS easily removes from the mount, and I am still able to close the in-dash storage compartment when not using the GPS. In total, the GPS and mount cost me $289. So for less money than what I would have paid for just the OEM housing, I got a brand new GPS with traffic updates and voice command. I heard the stock IS300 navigation units were a little outdated, so I wanted to try something with a new device altogether while maintaining somewhat of a stock look. Let me know what you think.
