Default 2001 is300 problem..clogged cats?

Hey I own a 2001 is300 with a hks exhaust with the resonator cut out and I was driving on the highway for about 30 minutes when i started to loose power and wasn't able to accelerate much without giving it a lot of gas almost flooring it but didn't do that because it sounded so loud it was going to blow up or something, louder than normal coming from the engine so i was driving on the shoulder struggling to keep it going. prob going like 25 mph until i put it in park and let it idle. It was idling weird like it was gonna shut off but didn't. I looked under the hood and the cat near the engine was glowing bright orange and i saw this because it was still dark . I let it cool and was able to get it to a rest stop and got it towed home. Pretty sure the cats are clogged or something. It has about 175000 miles on the car with a check engine light on so is that the problem?? clogged cats? i need to fix this. please help with any suggestions. thanks!

actually, a severe misfire will cause the cats to overheat as well, in fact, much more prevalent than a clogged cat...

any check engine lights?
