ive read general rule of thumb for salvage tittle is find the value of a clean title then take 60% of that number. thats your price. use kbb.com nada edmunds.com or even autotrader to get an idea of what the value should be.
before you buy you should talk to your insurance company about it. some companies wont insure salvage (rebuilt) title cars. some states wont even allow them on the road. also think about resale. its going to be hard to sell later on down the road.
Yeah theres a guy that bought a blue clear title car for that much about a week ago on here. Weve seen a few go that cheap on here with salvage titles. They really arent worth much.
I don't know why people are afraid to shop for cars outside of their local area..
I live in philly and took a train (4 hrs) up to Boston to get my current IS.
At the time I couldn't find a white one, also the price and mileage was just too good to pass up!
If I find a supra or 2IS that I love, for a great price, I will fly to california or wherever to get it.
Am I just crazy or something?

Sorry bro, no one is talking down on salvaged IS.
We just saying 7500 is too much money for one.
That is extremly high... I just got an 01 SBM IS300 with 78k for $3200 and all it needed was front and rear bumpers cause they were scuffed. check www.salvagedirect.com.

Thanks. I already checked that out before I even bought the vehicle. Excellent private-party value is $8,990 (I personally think the car is in excellent condition - clean inside and out, well-maintained, etc.). The reason I ask for your opinions is because I've seen a few for ~$7K, but they're either automatic or salvaged, or both. This one's manual - which is a bit harder to find. Thanks anyway...
