Well...
first we ordered a large piece of carbon fiber fabric and bought locally fiber glass resin as well as fiber glass fabric.
since i knew what i was after, we did the inserts on carton so we can have an idea of what we were going to do...
first we cut the "square" to view how big was it gonna be, and then we made the "inserts" to make the fiber glass insert...
after that was done we took a mold of both the top and the underneath of the hood, to make the "positive" (where the the carbon fabric is placed to have the exact shape of what is molded to). This is where i decided to make the cold air whole, right in front or the intake :d
this is a picture of the carbon fabric on the mold...
after we took em apart, you will have a really waivy and somewhat uneven surface due to the resin... it will look like this
after this ponit you need to check for the uneven spots and spray resin over them, sand it, resin, sand it, sand it... couples of clear coats for protect... and then sand again...
sicne we didnt have the mold it took like 45 days to complete, but if something happend to this one i can easy to it in about 15 days
you can do this same process for almost anything.
the sides were done like this also... all started from carton + glue :P ohh and scissors.
since im out of the states, shipping will be costly :P
hope this info helped.
anything else just let me know....

So how do you get the mold of the top side and the mold of the bottom side of the hood to stick together?
I'm thinking about trying this with my fusebox cover or something small and maybe work my way up if I'm any good at it.
How much do you think shipping would be just out of curiosity?

Xvector, How much did materials cost for making the hood? Just a rough estimate.
Also, I think I read it took like a month and a half?
Looking at how you did it and trying to figure out if I understand.
Would this work?
Make up a small vent part of the hood in a square. Then make a mold of the top of the hood. (did you make it out of fiberglass?) Cut a matching square out of the mold to match the vent and insert that into the mold.
This would give you the mold to lay the fiberglass fabric into. (what did you use to keep the fiberglass fabric from sticking to the mold?)
After you lay the fiberglass fabric into the mold you need a mold of the bottom of the hood right? (Using a similar process for making a mold of the top??)
From what I'm thinking, the bottom mold should really only be the support structure of the hood (right??)
Then after you have the top and bottom made, you cut out the holes in the vents and then stick them together? What do you use to stick them together?
Could you tell me if I'm missing anything here or if I'm totally off in how I'm seeing this done?
