Let's start this off by saying i have 0 exp and knowledge about this topic so i'm ready for the critism.

I had stock "17 rims on my '02 and traded them out with a guy down the street that had some "18 Racing Hart's. Now whenever i make sharp turns or hit some pot holes, dip, or speed bump i get a fairly loud rubbing sound . When i turn the sound is from the front, when i dip its from the back. Now it doesn't look like it's hitting. What are some of my options. Thanks for any help.

 

On the inside of your fender there is about an inch that goes into the wheel well. shave thatall with a dremel or some other tool. This modification is not noticeable from the exterior.

Another option is to roll your fenders. Go to a local mechanic or whatever and tell them your situation and see if they will roll your fenders.

 

sounds like you need to roll your fenders. what are the specs of the wheels.

Thanks for the input. Im not sure what the width is on the rims. My rubbers are 215/40/ZR18's in the front and 245/40/ZR18's in the rear.

 

With the size tire your running in the front your probably just rubbing the the fender liner. What you can do is mask off the liner with tape, then drive the car around for a little while. The tire will rub the tape off where its hitting. Now that you know where its rubbing use a heat gun and heat the liner up, when its gets warm enough get a cold towel and push it back.

For the rear, all you have to do is roll your fenders.... Good Luck.

 

A 245/40 is a wicked tall tire on an IS... That is most likely where all your rubbing is originating from.

Very true. when i got the wheels off the trade the rubbers were already on them. im gonna get some 215/40's and see if that helps before i roll the fenders.
