Default High Compression vs. Boost

Does anyone know of anybody that has installed high compression pistons, like 12:1 or higher, and header combination to get better performance on a 2JZ-GE? I'm just wondering how that would work rather than installing a turbo system. I know that overall the turbo will kick butt, but I am curious if you can gain pretty good HP from higher compression.

You also can't run that high of compression without doing a lot of other mods to your car. Like EMO said, save your money for a turbo. Speaking of which, you guys need to start buying more so that the price will drop into the area I can afford!

Lol, I meant for other people to get turbos. You could get a toyomoto or TBKO turbo instead of the XS ;-) I'm sure that would knock... $10-$20 bucks off the price in the long run (as in after another 100 orders are put through).

The rule of thumb for raising compression is 4% power gain for every full compression mark. So since you have a 10.5 compression ratio, and 215hp. Raising it to 12.5 would yield 232.2 hp or 17.2hp. Of course, if you have intake, headers, exhaust ect that all adds. So take whatever hp you are making right now and add 4% for every full compression mark you raise. Could be worth while mod if you want to stay NA.
