Hi does anyone know how difficult it is to replace an AC Expansion Valve in a 2002 IS 300? I was just quoted $700 for the repair. Since I can find the part at NAPA for $42 I was thinking I might take a crack at it myself. Anyone have any instructions or advice before I break something?

 

Are you familiar with servicing a/c? Do you have the tools to service your a/c? Do you have time to take the dash apart to get to the valve?

The part is cheap. Getting to it and discharging/evacuating/recharging the a/c is a whole different nut to crack.
