Default Can the Pop-Up Screen Be Replaced?

Greets,

I am one of the many who has had the integrated Nav just stop working in my 2002 IS300.

http://my.is/forums/f103/oem-navigat...d-data-359227/

Since a repair would probably be some ludicrously unreasonable cost like 2,000 - 3,000 to replace a non-touch screen, joystick entry, first generation, cant program in motion, system, I am leaning toward a brand new portable nav system (10% of the cost).

BUT I would LOVE to know if there is a way I could use the pop-up display shell to house the unit. It strikes me as a great place to put it, since your standard portable nav is visible and prone to be stolen. Tucked into the opening/closing screen would be great - if it can be done.

Thanks!

I would purchase the Garmin GPS that has a larger diameter and will fit in the OEM housing. Plus, the antenna is integrated so it will not stick up and will still promote the housing to be able to be closed. Try looking at a:

Garmin StreetPilot 7500 (around $800)
