On Target for Record Sales Year
TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to the all-new ES 300, Lexus had its best-ever November with total sales of 19,653, a 9.9 percent increase from November 2000. For the year, Lexus sales of 201,780 are 9.1 percent ahead of the 2000 sales pace, and Lexus is well on its way to a record year for 2001.
With sales of 5,353, the ES 300 entry luxury sedan experienced an 81.4 percent increase over the same month last year. Demand for the SC 430 hardtop convertible remained strong with sales of 1,728 for the month.
For calendar year 2001, sales of the LS 430 premium luxury sedan are 28,745, or 122.3 percent ahead of last year. The IS 300 compact sport sedan has sales of 20,748 for 2001, an increase of 54.9 percent from 2000. Sales of the GS 430 and GS 300 sport sedans are 4,320 and 18,186, respectively. Total Lexus passenger car sales are 36.8 percent higher than a year ago.
"Despite challenging times, the luxury automotive market is still going gangbusters," said Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Denny Clements. "We've had strong sales all year and expect this month to be a 'December to Remember.' We're looking for 2001 to be a banner year for Lexus."
