Default factory speakers

Does anyone know the size of the speakers for the front and rears in the 2001 IS 300's? Any suggestions on what to get if I was going to swap those out?

There's an FAQ somewhere on this site about upgrading the factory stereo. It was written with the GS in mind, but I think it should still apply to our cars. It basically states that the biggest audible difference in sound quality will come with the replacement of the factory stock speakers and nothing else. It also gives a list of good speaker brands.

lakeshow,
i replaced the whole system in my IS, the front speakers were 6.5" and the tweets are 1" the rear speakers i used were 6x9. some drilling was required to bolt in the rear speakers securely because the factory speakers had a bigger ring around them, but the factory cones were 6x9. i used diamond audio M5 series all the way around, and i highly recommend them. also recommend boston pro series speakers. high quality, just need lots of power to sound good....hope this helped....the first mods done to my IS were with the audio system, so if you have any more questions, i can probably help.

Thanks for the info on the size of the speakers. I'm probably going to get the Infinity Kappa series for the speakers inside and then JL Audio for my subwoofers. I'm also planning on buying the Kenwood-910dvd player for my head unit as well and then slowly but surely move into the tv's on the back head rest. Have you done anything else to your system besides the speakers?

yeah man, i've done more to my system....i have 2-JL 12's that are powered by a mtx 300x2 amp. and i have a 4x80 eclipse pushing all the speakers. all that stuff is mounted in a pretty sweet custom sealed box in the trunk. there is also a lightning audio capacitor hooked up to the amps. the head unit is a sony mobile es unit, i chose that because it blacks out and it has red lights that match the factory dash lights. the whole thing sounds sweet, i'm happy.
