IS 300 Original Owner
I posted several months ago the instructions for the resolution that Lexus used defective materials for the IS 300 Dashboard. Up to date there hasn't been enough complaints to proceed with Class Action process.
Although Lexus hasn't admitted the materials are defective, they offered me $500.00 on a $1600.00 to replace Dashboard with the lablr added.
1. Everyone that is experiencing the same issue should contact Lexus Corp. to file a formal complaint. (Make surre you get full names of the person you spoke to at Lexus)
2. File Formal complaint with your state Attorney General Office
3. CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) to file formal complaint.
4. Better Business Bureau (Area of the Lexus Corp)
5. Most of all take photos of all angles of your dashboard
Bascially, what will happen initial will be NHTSA will investigate the issue once there are enough complaint. We need at least 1500 - 3000 complaint to flood their office. (Documentation)
We are focusing on IS 300 from the 2000 to present so make sure you file complaints to be added.

sticky melting condition is around for many many years, There are so many forum talking about it and yet nothing can solve it. with the latest invention to save the environment, use less plastic. All the sticky melting condition can now be treated and not replace the whole parts. If you are having the same condition as the youtude posting fixing sticky dashboard/melting dashboard. we will be able to use less plastic.

Melting Dash
Hello. I too have a melting dash. I have a 2004 IS 300 that is always garaged and yet it melts in the sun. I took it to Lexus dealership and they said they are familiar with the problem. Corporate headquarters said they would pay 50% which still leaves me paying $1300 for a dash that is defective and should be recalled!! Has anyone started a class action on this? it is shoddy and pathetic and offensive that they call this a LUXURY car!!

I am the original owner on my 2002 is300 which now has 150,000 miles on it. Its always been garaged (at home and work) and I have never applied any chemical to the dash. I started noticing the melting dash approx. 5 years ago. Its a sticky disgusting mess that gets on everything. I can deal with going thru tires every year and half but the dash I can't deal with anymore. This has been a great car but its time to move onto the 2014 is fsport. RIP 2002...

Hi Everyone,
I do have a attorney exploring the possibility of taking on this case. My 2003 IS 300 has only 48,000 miles and I cannot stand to drive it because of the sticky mess on the Dashboard. I hope everyone has contacted Lexus HQ, NTHSA, CAR DEALERSHIP where car purchased, BBB, your Attorney General Office to get Lexus to replace the Dashboards. There is another issue on the IS 300 I found where Lexus did not notify all the IS 300 about the recall ...the Heated Oxygen Control Sensor 2/ Bank 1. Your Trac Off light blinks constantly, Check Engine Light remains on and you may not notice the white smoke from tail pipe. As the dashboard, this issue gradually happens and I feel that's what Lexus was counting on. I will have a decision from the attorney office this week so keep

Its a not a "melting" dash. Lexus used some wack paint that gets sticky as it ages or when its out in the sun. Even though the dash looks ******ed up with scraches, gashes and the like, it can be easily rubbed off with a rag/old towel and lots of thinner.
Don't have to use that expensive Armor All wipes or sanding. Just did this last nite on my spare 2004 dash, about 20 minutes.....took all the sticky black paint residue off, all ready for paint.
Had an extra airbag, gonna shoot everything and post up the results........
