Default Manual or Automatic?

I currently own a 1999 GS 300....I am considering buying a 2005 IS, 3k miles...black exterior, black leater/cloth interior with a manual transmission...I don't have a problem driving a manual, but wanted some imput from some IS owners...The price on the car is 26k, which is not too bad, but negotiations are on going...

What kind of performance has anyone seen with the auto compared to the manual...I know the obvious benefits or both, but wanted some imput from both sides....thanks.

on the is300, the manual is a lot faster than the auto, if driven right of course. the is300 auto can do high 6 to low 7 maybe? is300 manual, if done right, can be low 6.

keep in mind it's a high rev engine, so if you want more power, you have to keep the rev high.

Default Manual all the way.

I just bought an 02 with 50K on it and it is a manual. It is super fast and the handling is nice. You can't beat the ride either.
for the IS 300 Manual.

Just my 02 cents.
Later.

Depends what you're after.

Modding and drag racing... go auto, it can handle ~400hp pretty reliably.
Sporty driving and milder modding... 5 sp but reliably handles ~325hp.

Cheers,

Max
