Do you regret buying an RX450h?
#16
My first RX hybrid was a 2006 RX400h. Loved the ride and performance. Took it in for service and was given an RX300 as a loaner. What a difference! The RX300 felt like a raised Camry. We leased that vehicle and at the end of the lease we moved to smaller cars.
Our last non-Lexus SUV was a pre-owned 2008 BMW X3. Loved the handling, hated what I called the "repair exposure". I was constantly listening for the sound that would translate into a $1,000-$5,000 repair.
Fast forward to 2015. Leased a new 2015 RX450h, and have had a Lexus hybrid SUV since then. Leased a 2018 NX300h at the end of the 2015, purchased it at the end of the lease. Missed the V6 hybrid drivetrain of the RX, and we'll be taking delivery of a 2022 RX450h on Tuesday.
There were three factors that prompted the move to the 2022 RX450h. First, the last year of the V6, second, Android Auto was not available in our NX (even with the software upgrade), and finally, I've experienced the goodness of the panoramic view cameras on our Chevy Bolt EV. I'll be 80 years old next month, and life is too short to do without those amenities that make driving a pleasure.
I'll not have another vehicle that is not a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or pure EV.

Bought my 2016 CPO just before the virus stuff took off. We test drove the 350 and 450h. My wife and I both preferred the way the hybrid drove. This is our first hybrid. No regrets.

Drove both the RX450h and RX350 and hands down liked the 450 better. Also with my rural commute I'm averaging 30.2 MPG year round and over 31 in spring thru fall.
ZERO regrets.

I came from a 2016 NX to the 2021 RX450H (non F sport). At the time my only reason for choosing a 450H was that I really wanted to try a hybrid, and for better gas mileage. The cost delta was negligible at the time. I never really compared the 350 to the 450 other than scanning the options and features list.
Fast forward to 12 months of ownership and I take the 450H in for routine service at my local Lexus dealer. They provided me with a 350 F sport as loaner. I was immediately surprised by how much I miss the 450. The two cars handle roughly the same, I think the F sport is mainly cosmetic. What stood out the most was the transmission, steering, and brakes . The 450 steering is a little lighter. The brakes on the 450 are definitely more responsive (most like due to the hybrid brake regen stuff). Comparing the tranny of the F sport 350 to the 450H, I forgot what an old style tranny felt like. I grown so accustom to the Hybrid drive, the standard tranny no longer seemed refined to me.
So no, I have no regrets, I would buy another 450H without question. Hopefully though, the next one will be fully electric.

I have a ES 300h with the 4 cylinder hybrid and it is really refined and extremely quiet and smooth..
As a matter of fact it is much more refined than my RX 350 with the V6.

I have Es300h, rx450h and gs450h. The es is a step down when it comes to response, tone, and power delivery. The GS is a step above the RX.
It’s not to say the ES cannot hold its own, but looses in a direct comparison.

Thanks for all of your responses everyone. I truly appreciate it. I just purchased a RX450h luxury package this past weekend. Fully loaded.
however, just yesterday i noticed that on the passenger side, the pano moonroof doesnt close flush. Has anyone gone thru this and how did lexus fix it?

My wife has the RX450h 2017 and I really like the vehicle so I decided to purchase one for myself. I did try the F Sport and liked it better, I like the stiffer seats and the handling. I have a 2021 RX450h F Sport.

I expect to take delivery of my new 2022 RX 450h next week and trade-in my 2020 RX 450h F Sport Handling. I specifically did not order the Pano Roof this time and went with only the Sunroof. I look forward to getting rid of the "F" Sport seats, otherwise most everything will be the same as the last one.
