A UT channel "The Car Care Nut" on reviewing the NX 2022 said that he did not see any active shutters grills (in this review apparently a press car 450h). Strange. It may have been a pre-production, but if anyone can check their NX 350h to see if it has the active shutter grills, it would be much appreciated. My understanding all the hybrid Rav4 per specs have them, so it seems the NX would also. Thanks

 

All Rav4 do not have them. Toyota quietly stopped installing them sometime in 2021 model year, nobody knows why. Aside from the fact that they don't actually do much, maybe something to do with chip/parts shortages? Anyways, they only exist in the lower section of the grill, maybe 3" high.

 

A search of the Lexus TIS site does not show any reference like the one I posted
of this feature on current generation ES 300h's. Searched all engine and cooling
system pages.

 

So, it seems the 2022 NX's will not have them?

 

I'm happy if the NX does not have them. Had a 2018 BMW X3 that had them and had to have warranty repair in the first year. Just another mechanism to go bad over time.

 

Checked with my local Lexus dealer and they still had one 350 (non-hybrid) Fsport waiting for customer pickup. I did look at front grill and there was no active shutters. It seemed to have some baffle about mid-way that would block some air. However its main purpose appears to be mount support for the front license plate..

 

The bumper reinforcement for crash protection is camouflaged a bit by the
section of the grille that appears solid rather than vented. Also a solid spot
to attach License Plates. Lexus has come a long way from the front plate
locations that seemed to be a complete afterthought with screws driven right
thorough the bumper cover. If you moved to one of the 28 US states that did
not require it or just wished to clean up the look...two horrendous torn up holes!
Now the location dimples are way down in the base plane of the grille.
