Who has had to replace Hybrid Battery?
code P0AA6 on my RX 400 H last week after a lot of heavy rain. Car started and ran until the shut off and then would not restart until I disconnected the battery and then reconnected it (12 V battery) then It would restart and run one time only again. I Pull the backseat out and the top off the hybrid battery case and sure enough it was a small pond water at the bottom of the hybrid battery tray and the main battery relay was in that pool of water. After disconnecting the 12 V battery and pulling the orange Safety plug I removed the relay and dried it off dried out the battery tray then lifted the battery tray using some lumber for leverage and to support it and dried out the area under the battery tray, removed the clogged drain plug and cleaned it out and reinstalled. I reinstalled the relay reconnected the 12 V battery in the car started right Up and no further fault codes all good. before reassembling the hybrid battery I drilled a couple of holes in the bottom of the battery tray to allow water to get out of the battery tray to the drain just below. Then pulled the two subfloor trays out of the back of the RX and sure enough I had standing water on the left side I got my garden hose out and hosed down that left rear tail light and sure enough now had a lot more water in that area. So after removing the taillight, I have now resealed that with RV caulking Now going to let it dry out for a couple of days and then hit that tail light area again and see if I have any more water intrusion or not. I also put a bit of the sealant on the body seams up by the gas struts where the Lexus technical service bulletin says there is frequently water intrusion where the body panels meet.
I have a 2013 RX 450H with 104,000 miles on it. The care was purchased new and has been trouble free. It even has the original brake pads. We also have a 2014 RX 350 are about to trade one for a truck. My wife is concerned about the drive battery life. The 350 only has 81,000 miles on it and would become her car. I am open to opinions as to which one to trade.

Don't worry too much about the Hybrid battery. I've heard that those batteries can last easily for years.
I am curious how many 2010 RX 450H owners have replaced their hybrid battery? I have about 170k on mine and had the warning lights go off, had it towed to my local shop and $320 later was told I need to replace the hybrid battery, but that I could drive it, with the warning the lights would go off again (which they did). I don't want a refurbished battery because I live far from cities where if it failed they'd be able to replace easily. I'd be holding the bag for sending the battery back to a shop ($600) & getting another one (paying for labor a 2nd time). So I decided I want a new one, but that's about $7k. yikes.
The car is so comfortable but I'm not impressed with 27-30mpg. I have an '06 Prius with I'm guessing 350k (the odometer was set back which I didn't know when I bought it) & it still gets 45mpg. Unknown if it's hybrid battery's been replaced. I like the Lexus for AWD as I live at 7000' & drive to a ski area frequently. I've spent $8k in repairs and oil changes on the Lexus in 5 years, though - I'm pretty disgusted with that. Should I spring for replacing with an OEM hybrid battery & keep the car, or put in a refurbished one & sell the car for, what, 12k?

I got rid of my '08 RX hybrid because it was starting to become a money pit. In hindsight, I do not recommend a hybrid if you keep your cars for a long time. The maintenance costs of an aging hybrid (and god forbid a new hybrid battery) will wipe out any savings in gas and then some. And it's not something you can easily DIY.

I have a 2008 RX400H and have 277k miles with original battery. At this point I will run it into the ground. The batteries can be replaced at a local hybrid battery retailer for less than $2800 which is cheaper than dealer and longer warranty. Registration and lack of car payment would preclude me to opt batteries. However if engine or transmission were to go I am done.
My Lexus hybrid battery still works fine but I had issues with my 2006 Prius battery. Instead of replacing the battery, I had a local store rebuild it by replacing 4 modules out of the 28 and rebalancing for $450. Now 4 years later still works. I assume this could be done for the Lexus battery too.

It’s a very well known fact and especially in CA (where most of the hybrids & replacement battery services are) that RX 450h hybrid battery could be replaced even at your address for about 45 min labor, with discounts and promotions the job can be done even for about $1,100. Yesterday quote online given by one of the many refurbished battery services in Sacramento metro area.
Hybrid2Go.com for example offered not only refurbished battery rep,a cement but also new OEM battery replacement of your 450h at your address, they charge a bit more than other third-party services, over $2,500.
