Need advice on purchasing used RX450h 2011
Hi all,
I am new to this forum. I came across a 2011 RX450h that has done 35000km (7+ years old car) that I would like to purchase.I have heard hybrid car need to have it driving battery replaced every 5 to 10 years and it will cost a fortune to do so. Will this apply to RX450h? Will i likely need to replace RX450h driving battery in the next few years? is there anything i need to check for before buying a RX450h?
Thanks

Unless there is a defect, the hybrid battery is a lifetime component and should not require replacement. But like all cars, sometimes a small percent of lifetime components do require replacement before the end of a vehicle's natural life. Looking at your info, I would be more concerned about the low number of KM on the vehicle. With used cars, really high odometer and really low odometer can both be concerning. A worn out car can be just as problematic as one that sat around unused for long periods of time. Hybrid batteries don't like to sit unused for many months in a row, but if the vehicle was used regularly, just not often, it should be ok.

Just the same sort of inspection you'd do with any used vehicle.

Only 35,000 kms in 7 years? Wow, that's very low mileage! Congrats!
bought a 6 year old MY2012 RX450h which only had 45,000 kms. My biggest gripe was the fine cracking effect that was starting to appear on the seat backs (shoulder area) and the seat base. And water spots left behind by the use of hard water to wash the vehicle. Other than that, it's been fantastic.
My suggestion to you would be to get the battery under the cargo area load tested, and if it is on the low side, replace it with a new battery (the AGM variety).

No need.
I have a 2008 RX 400h with 150 k miles, still going good, just minor maintenance on the mechanical like brakes, tires and shocks/struts. Very expensive at a Lexus dealer shop tho. QUOTE=gamma113;10248531]Hi all,
