Hello, I am purchasing a RX with Star Gazer Black, the color is beautiful, just wondering if any one has had experience with this color and your thoughts? Best way to keep clean , wash, wax ideas? I have never owned a black car but love the color. Thanks! Tim

 

Black is black. Shows every spec of dust and tiniest scratches. Skillet summer time. I am sorry, not being negative, but that's what it is. It will require high maintenance to stay pretty and more you wash it, more it will show swirls and those spider lines from sponge and drying cloth.
If you really want it to shine over years of ownership, as it's 2013, take it to a body shop and pay them to clean and buff entire car outside. It's about day's work. We had son's Mazdaspeed buffed, it was 8 hrs. Then wax it solid and polish. Use only cellulose sponge to wash car, soak well before washing so that dust washes off easily, or it will leave scratches that will show. Dust is very abrasive.
Find cotton baby wrap and simmer it in clean water for 2 hrs. This will give you a very soft water droplets removal cloth that leaves no swirls. Keep that cloth clean, do not allow any dirt accumulate on it, or it will scratch.
That's about it. Waxes, polishes, etc, you will have as many opinions following as there is people using them.

 

When it is clean, it looks awesome.

If you like clean cars ... you will be undertaking a substantial time consuming task. I switched from a midnight perl (white) to obsidian and spend too much time cleaning and admiring.
