Default Tire pressure readout on dash

I have a RX 450 H and it has a readout of the tire pressure in the dash board. It has worked fine until recently when the far right readout showed about a 5 pound increase. I just had it in for service and they normally check the tire pressure. I got a tire pressure gauge and checked each tire. They were all about the same pressure. So I am taking it in to lexus.

I contacted my Lexus dealership about the problem, because I thought that there would be some sort of methodology on which tire corresponded to one of the four on the readout. I was told that it is up to the technician that set up the sensor on which tire he started on. That would show either on the far right or far left. Then the others would be which ever he thought he should set up next.

I do not know if I received accurate information or not. It does not make sense that Lexus would have a tire pressure readout, and then leave it random where it would be placed in the dash readout. I would have expected that they had a procedure and it would have the technician always do one tire first and so on.

I am taking the car to the dealership in a few days to correct the problem and need to know the facts.

Thank You,

Jim Kidd

I have individual tire readout on my HS250h and no matter how they set it up, once you rotate your tires the reading location will change. Thus, I track which is which by increasing the air in one tire to note which are the front and which are the rear and left to right. Then I can narrow it down by doing the same in the rear. Then I later forget which is which until one tire starts losing air slowly (the left rear in this car).
Regarding your high reading, I would try to reset it per the instructions in the manual. However, you probably have a bad TPMs sensor in that tire.

Moved over to the hybrid forum to avoid all the 'where is this option on my RX350?' comments.

Jim, the tire pressure readout on the dash is random although some have figured out the sequence. Try doing a reset like Clutchless said. Just keep in mind the TPMS light will go off when the tire pressure drops about 6 below where you have it. So you may want to bump the tire pressure higher, reset the TPMS and then adjust the tire pressure lower. The reset button is located deep under the steering wheel and may require some contortion to get to. If the readout still seems off based on your manual reading, then it could be a bad sensor. Good luck.

Default Thank you for your replies to my message

The car is a 2013 RX 450H with just over 100,000 miles on it.
