Exactly!

Although I did keep an eye on the tach during morning drive [keeping it below 3k rpm till the engine warmed up]

[QUOTE=russlex;8370286]Has anyone installed or know how to install an after market tachometer on at RX450h (or 400h)? I find the power gauge to be quite useless, wish they'd just kept the rpm gauge that's in the RX 350.
I realize I would have to mount it somewhere, would probably place it somewhere inconspicuous.[/QUOTE

I think you can potentially get rpm by live monitoring through OBDII port.

But the reason to delete the rpm meter in 450H is the eCVT where the power is adjusted by the continuously changing the gearing and not the engine RPM. It is a different beast. RPM meter will be pretty boring to watch with practically no information that can be put to use. Tachs provide most meaningful information in a manual and some entertaining info in auto-trans.

Note ... the engine rpms are varied in a range, but don't stay in a gear to high rpm and then shift and so on till you are in top gear.

Just use OBD Fusion to get engine RPM. Easy.
