I believe it is the board, but maybe somebody will chime in.....
My 2008 goes in tomorrow.
The service rep stated that the recall is due to faulty solder that may deteriorate. The module has to be removed, so the serial number on the unit can be checked, which is about an hour job.
If it falls into the sequence of faulty units, the units is then repaired, not replaced (I assume they put in a new board or something). The full procedure is listed at 5 hours, and I will be provided with a loaner car.
So after the dealer removed the unit to check the serial number, my module did not need to be repaired.
Which means I can't really provide any helpful details about the recall process, including the total length of the repair.
But for those wondering, you don't have to wait for your notice to arrive, call your dealer, give them your VIN, and they will know right away if they need to inspect your module.

I'm surprised to hear that they need to check the s/n visually.
I would have thought that these days, in the automotive industry, they had a database of each component used in each vehicle.
Obviously this isn't the case, otherwise they would have made the recall only for the VINs whose unit s/n is defective...
We took our RX400h in for service on Friday and they ended up performing the recall. They said that they replaced the IPM circuit card which is apparently part of the inverter. I'm glad they were able to replace it because our service adviser said they have seen several cases where it failed and left people stranded.
The IPM replacement plus the 75,000 mile service took an entire day. I'm not sure how long the IPM replacement took by itself.
My 400h is going to the dealer for the recall today. I had scheduled service and they called me back and told me about the recall. I'm going to leave it overnight and I'm getting a loaner car.
