Default Used 2010 RX 450h or New 2013 450h

Looking for advice for which direction to go. Is there really a big difference between the 2010 and 2013 in ride quality and performance? Any pointers would help. Thanks in advance.

As the owner of an (h), I'm biased but others have said if you drive both the additional weight and power of the hybrid make it a better drive. I certainly like mine and plan on doing it again in probably 2-3 more years.

Thanks for the reply Jim. What type of mpg have been getting on your Hybrid since you have been drive it for a good time now? I did test drive the 2013 Hybrid Very sweet ride but didn't know if there is a difference between the 2010 Model.

It's all depending on the difference of the cost. 2013 will have an updated look, minor upgrade electronics stuffs but technically it is the same car.

If $$$$ is no factor then I will take the '13 over the '10.

My graph running for the last year and a half is 30.4 average right now. Not to shabby. I don't dog it, and I use premium (as recommended) fuel. I gave up my radar detector as well for a new 'style' of driving and frankly driving within the speed limit is a lot more relaxing w/o worrying and tickets . And I've never been late where I was going .

A new 13 450h will probably go for $50K before taxes and fees. A 10 450h with 36K miles will probably go for $37K with the CPO warranty. You have to decide if the $13K is worth it to you. As much as I love the new one, I feel like used cars are better buy at this price range and in this particular car. You are basically going to pay $5K more for the hybrid than gas. Will you ever make it up in strictly gas money? Probably not, but once you factor in depreciation, the gap will be a lot closer than you think. I have a heavy right foot and I live in the northeast, I am currently averaging 24mpg in my 450h. In a brand new ES350 loaner, I am getting around 19-20mpg. Since the RX gets worse mileage than the ES, so minimum I think the gap between the gas and hybrid is 5K regardless of how you drive. If you get 20 in a 350, you will get 25+ in a 450.

By the way, does anyone know how many RX450h they sold?

Thanks so much for the help. If there is not much difference besides the exterior and small difference in the interior. Going to look for a used one then. Great pointers thanks for the help.

I meant 5MPG sorry.

I actually swapped my new 2013 ES for a 2010 RX350 loaner. I averaged 19mpg in 200 miles of 75mph highway driving and 2 hours of pure traffic (averaged about 30mph). In my second tank at average of 24mph, I got 25mpg from my 450h.

I really like the new grills on the 2013s! has anyone got information on whether a grill/bumper swap is possible to give the 10s/11s/12s the newer, more aggressive front?

Cossie thanks for the info. I went ahead got a used rx450h. You were right on the money difference. For this vehicle is better to go used. Thanks again for the all input for in this forum.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I previously leased a 2010 RX 350 and traded it in for a 2013 RX 350. There is a huge difference in the ride of these two cars. Make sure you take it out for a long enough test drive to understand what I'm talking about. The ride on the 2010 was very luxurious and smooth. I was able to navigate California's bumpy roadways in ease. The 2013 is a horror show the ride is jarring and bouncy. Also, please be aware that they've changed the seats in almost all of the 2013 models. I haven't read this anywhere but check it out at a dealership. They are completely different. The new seats are hard as rocks. The pluses on the 2013 is better steering and a better steering wheel. They also have a couple of other bells and whistles but I'd rather have a smooth ride. I'm trying to figure out how I can sell my lease and get back into a 2010.
