Default trickle charging 2011 RX450h

I just bought a used 2011 RX450h. We travel a lot for long time periods. Can I attach a trickle charger to the 12V battery and be able to start when i come home? We are going for 1 month on Friday and 4 months in Jan. The book seems to imply that starting it and driving it once a month is sufficient to charge the battery, anyone have experience with this?

Since so little info re: that is in the book and the 12v is a small battery under the rear deck, it's probably a good question for a Lexus tech. If you do ask, please come back and tell us what they say.

That might actually be a good idea during your four month trip especially if you don't have a friend that can drive it to the store once a month or so.

I've had two brands recommended to me, Battery Tender and Battery Minder. They have intelligence beyond trickle charging. (not recommended specifically by a hybrid owner, but someone who stores vehicles)

I used the Battery Tender on my RX400h with good results. The car would sit for long periods and be unable to start without charging the battery. Adding the Battery Tender eliminated the problem.
