2Qs: about idling and tax breaks
Every week I spend about 45mins one day and about 30mins another day sitting in my 2007 gs350. If I got the new 2013 hybrid, how bad will my gas milage be? With the newer engine will it idle and sip less gas than my car now?
And do they even offer tax breaks for buying a hybrid in the USA still? If yes, does the gs hybrid count?

Well, I can say the new one will be a little better than mine but most of the idle times the engine cutsoff, to help save gas only time this happened is when I went to NJ traffic galor. You would save cause your engine isnt running. In terms of discounts on tax nope those are done they stopped maybe a year or two after these GS Hybrid's came out. Don't think they will do it for this car.

Thanks. I know my friends 2012 Prius if he sits in it for a while with radio on, it'll kick on the engine after a few minutes.
And I was kinda hoping to still have the a/c on/watching a dvd while I have to sit and wait. So I thought it would kick on the engine too.

With the GSh you don't need the engine on to have the A/C and other electronics on. During most of your stop lights the engine will be off and depending on your battery level is how long the engine will be off as you idle. I think its great, it is very quiet and you have 50% less vibrations etc with the engine not running.
The new car is rated at 31 MPG average a huge leap over the 23 MPG of the previous model. I am unaware of current Federal tax credits, there might be some state credits though.

The tax break was designed to help the manufacturer by encouraging sales, and drops off based on units sold. Since Lexus is bundled with parent company Toyota, the Federal tax rebate ran out years ago with the fleet of Prii that have populated the highways. The tax break might still apply towards latecomers in the hybrid race, so when the Dodge Viper SRT8-h comes out, it might still get a break.
