Tire Wear on 450...?

@bobBass, Hi, for some reason i had trouble logging in so i just created a new log in , "Felixm79" is now Mfelix ,
Most of the driving is done by my wife , mostly city with the occasional vacations is when it hits the highways , i now have 46k and the tread is in ok shape , if the dealer rotated them and aligned them i, i am sure i would easily get 50k+ out them , but the camber must of been off , the Interior is bald, i will post some pictures up
does anyone know if LRR tires vs regular tires will effect the mileage that much, rarely any highway use so to get the money back on the mileage vs the money spent in LRR tires might not be worth it , at all

I have a 2010 RX450h with Michelin Latitude's with 36K miles - tread wear is so good, that these will easily get 45K or more. 6/32" up front, the rear tires have a bit more tread, because I stopped rotating at 25K. This is for safety reasons in wet weather. FWIW

I have 34k miles now and am looking at replacing even though there is decent thread left.
Looking at the pirelli tires since they have great ratings at tire rack.

Hal, I replaced the Dunlops with the Pirelli Scorpion Verdes back in March. I have about 7K miles on them. Still enjoying the ride. They weigh more but minimal impact on mileage. I don't have to fill the tires every few weeks. Overall I'm very happy with them.

I replaced all of the same tire at 37,000 miles due to an unrepairable bolt penetration or I would have had in excess of 40k as well. Still had plenty of good tread life.

I'm also looking to replace my tires in the spring. I had Continental DWS in my other car and love it.. hopefully these LRR tires are just as good. The rating on tirerack looks good. Anyone used or tired these ?

Put a set of 4 of these tires on the wife's 2007 Santa Fe in November. They are great; smooth ride and superior handling to the OEM tires they replaced. Supposed to have superior handling in the snow. So far we haven't had any snow to try them out on. Would consider them for replacing the Michelins on my Rx 450h when they need replacing.

Just as an FYI, when I bought my 2010 rx450 last month, it had 69000km (~43,000 miles) on original Michelin tires and were 80% worn. When I reviewed the vehicle's service records, the only problem of any sort ever reported (other than the mat recall) was that one of the tires had developed a slow leak about a month before it's original owner's lease was up and it got traded in. I had new Michelins put on as part of the deal.
I think someone said these are not LRR tires. I had exclusively used Michelin LRR tires on my Camry Hybrid and while I was very happy with their ride, they were indeed slippery (and not in the good way). Even when fairly new and on dry roads while gently braking if I went over a small bump or a little loose dirt I could feel a little lurch as the regen braking disengaged and the mechanical brakes deployed (the Camry does this when the ABS system senses any slipping while just using the regen off the front tires). When the roads were wet the regen kicked off all the time (the regen "whine" is much easier to hear on the Camry then the 450h, so easy to tell).
I don't notice this at all on the RX, in fact, I've rarely even noticed the ABS system being needed until I get into noticeable snow accumulated on the roads. Not sure if its the tires, or the RX AWD regen, or a combo though...

Hey Anita: thanks--I have Dunlops as OEM-are the Pirelli noticeably better? ie noise, handling or mileage?
Tire racks rates them far above the other tires--none of then are inexpensive though.

Hal, the first thing I noticed, I felt like I was higher up leaving me with a much more confident feeling over the Dunlops. They are better in turns, on crappy roads and over the railroad tracks I have to drive every day. Tire pressure is holding steady too even though the temps have dropped. And no noise either. I don't exactly buy the better mileage claim. The tires are LRR but also two pounds heavier. I have a short commute with hills so it's hard to give an accurate assessment. I'd say I was getting 1 MPG less when the weather was warmer. All bets are off now. Heat in the winter takes priority.
I agree the Pirellis are on the higher end price wise. But they were less than the OE Michelins by a decent amount back when I was looking. Continentals (not sure which model) took the top prize at $320. Ouch! I researched a few brands before I decided on the Pirellis. There were too many positives to go with anything else. I have no regrets. BTW, I think they're going for less than what I paid.
