I've now been averaging between 8.2 and 8.5 L/100 km with mostly around town driving and just a bit of highway. Now that the RX's mileage is up to 4400 km and the temperatures are between 4-14 *C, the fuel economy has improved quite impressively. I am amazed that such a large vehicle can get such good fuel economy. I am not disappointed especially since the engine is still far from broken in.

No, I don't play soccer!
And how clean is your RX, Benny
The temp change really makes a difference. It was pretty warm today, around 80. Nothing like having the A/C on and windows open without affecting the mileage.

Update at now over 4,200 miles
Now at 30.1 on last refueling, lifetime average is 26.5. Weather has been significantly warmer which may be contributing to the bump up in the last tankful's mpg. Have been using premium gas all along.

Anita, my RX is still dirty. We have been having non stop rain. Every time I think about cleaning it, the forecast calls for rain the next day so I don't bother washing it. Sad isn't it.

Now around 1300 miles on our 450h. Was averaging 27.6 around town before we went out of town on a 650 mile round trip, on the way up, early morning, no wind, used a/c 50%, average 63 miles an hour, the car showed 32.6 MPG and when I filled up after the first half of the trip and did the math, it actually got 35.1 MPG. Wow was I surprised, as the highway average at best should have been around 28. However, on the way back there was a serious headwind and the mileage dropped to 27.5, and the car showed 28.5 average. Used the AC 100 %. Drafted a little, wow what a difference. However, still very close to the 28 MPG published average. I used mid grade gas up and back and have also mixed high test.
I have been mixing mostly high test and mid grade. After reading some of the posts, I see that it is a good idea to stay with a certain brand of gas for around 5000 miles (can be much less, like 3000), and then switch to another good brand for the next 5000. The reason is that each brand of high test contains different types of cleaning ingredients and that one type cleans the build up of the other, as they act differently in how they clean.
Apparently it is not the best to mix different brands, however it is not really serious, but to keep build up of deposits at a minimum, it seems that the above recommendation is best.
Overall the city driving has been lower than published and the highway average higher. Sort of like a non hybrid car. I am still pleased with the performance and based on other posts, expect the MPG to be higher once the car is broke in. Around 5000 miles.

I have 11,000 miles on my Rx and have been averaging around 29.5 + or - 1 mile. I am very satified with my milage. I do about 80 miles RT/day, mostly highway.

Mine's brand new, not broken in yet. On my first tank of gas, I averaged about 27.9mpg. Almost through my second tank of gas and mileage is up to 29.2mpg I drive a combo of highway and city. Hoping to consistently get 30mpg+ once the car's broken in!

Update for me at one year and 10 months with 13K, the average is 27.5 MPG. Unfortunately I can't avoid the hills Best mileage so far was last summer, almost 34 MPG, after taking a trip on even roads at just below highway speeds.

We have had our RX 450h for about 750 miles. My wife loves it. Initial mileage appears to be 27.5. That's pretty good. I am getting 32 in my Mini Cooper-S, but the RX is much larger.

My RX is 15 months old...average stand at 11.5kml or a tad over 27mpg, odo reading is 26,500km or 16,500 miles....considering that this beauty stands over 2 tons I think we're getting a big bang for the buck!

If you guys/gals are getting your mileage averages from the multi-informational display of your car and if you wouldn't mind, would you please post what your display says is your average speed? I find that information interesting too.
Thanks.
Thanks.

My average over the last year according to the graph is a tick over 30mpg. Over the last six weeks it's 31.3 mpg.
Now average speed is interesting I'm sure for all of us. It's about 35 but you have to understand that includes all the time the ignition is on even when stopped at traffic lights. It will only be higher if you set it while on a trip and read it at the end of the trip. Factor in daily driving and down it goes.
