Wow RXSF, I thought my mileage was bad, I only get mid 22's. I usually drive around 80 on the highway and have since turned off Eco mode

Just filled up for the first time and got 26.7 MPG. I drove it like a little old lady, so I was hoping for a little better gas mileage. I see the forum comments stating that after the break in period of 5000-7000 miles that I should be able to get closer to 30 MPG if driving habits are hybrid like. Florida, hot here, flat land, so also based on comments, this too should help me achieve better mileage.
I can see that hybrid car owners will benefit by becoming better drivers. Although, other drivers seem to be in a hurry and don't want to wait for us to get up to speed. Honk, Honk.
This my first Lexus. My last car was a Kia Sorrento which averaged around 15 MPG. So the 450h fuel economy will be welcomed, but at 47,000, its really not an economical decision. I told my wife, that I don't mind paying more than I should, but I would not buy another vehicle that did not have at least a city rating of 30 MPG. So now we now owe more on our car than we do on our home. My wife is happy, I guess that what counts.

Cruiter or whoever knows
I have cleared my past history bars before and yet it still only shows one bar and there is no date under it. The best section has nothing. I checked setup and see know where to enter the date. The calander on the info screen has the correct date. Don't know what I'm missing.

My average MPG has being changing since replacing the engine oil of the paraffinum liquidum 0w-20 as delivered with on last December, to the synthetic 0w-20 oil on this March. Right after the replacement, it was still the same as 25MPG, but after a long drive (40miles) it showed 27MPG. Last weekend I drove 400miles, then it showed 30-32MPG. I don't know the particular reason. Maybe the oil replacement, maybe the raising temperature... I'm watching if it's a tentative phenomena or not.
# The changing cost is too high to get advantage of the improvement :-P

I just passed 1500 miles and my mpg has inched up to about 25mpg and rising. Part of it must be the weather, the car breaking in, and me learning to drive the car more efficiently. I get dips in MPG when my wife takes the car ;-)

Octane VS MPG
I have never burned regular (87 octane), but based on my conversations at dealer level with the Hybrid tech there is nothing wrong with burning 89 octane (mid grade here). I've been doing it and mixing it with 92 octane every other tank and usually filling at about 1/2 full. Most of you have seen my graphs and I've been pretty constant at between 29 and 30 mpg.
A couple of weeks ago as gas got more expensive I started putting in high test (92 octane in our area). Driving the same way a remarkable improvement was noticed immediately. I'm now between 32 and 33 mpg driving locally.
In a month or so, I'll add another bar to the graph and post it. The display will only show 6 bars including the current one so it takes two month cycles to build for a year.

Jim, how do you do the reset button on the steering wheel, in order to build a graph with a date. I was not able to do the reset in order to get a date below the graph.

450h Mileage
I've only had my 450h about 4 weeks and have a little less than 1,000 miles. My cumulative mileage is 27.9. My commute to work is highway then a few traffic lights and I've had a few extra 40-50 mile highway trips. And we are using regular gas now, the only premium was the tank the dealer put in it.

why regular
Several Lexus drivers, including my sales person says they use regular instead of premium and my previous cars had used regular so I didn't think about it. I generally use Shell gas - don't personally know any other 450h owners at this time so glad to see what others are doing. I'll watch the discussion and try the premium for the next few fill ups and see if the mileage differs. My driving is doesn't change much from week to week. And no - not a lease, and I keep my cars a long time - will do whatever is best for the long run. As of this weekend cumulative is at 28.3 and this tank is at about 30 mpg - only about 1200 miles on it.
