Default Is there a proper way to drive?

This being my first hybrid (that I drive) I have a few questions that I was hoping some of you could answer, maybe this will help others debating between getting the hybrid and the non-hybrid.

Can anyone tell me if there is a proper way to drive this car? Is it ok to try to drive just on the battery while in traffic to the point till the battery is drained? Or should I just drive disregarding which engine is doing the work? Whats best to extend life of the battery?

just drive the car like driving any others. the system will be smart enough to figure out when to use which one and when to charge

I agree. Just like with any other car you can eke out an extra mile or two per gallon by accelerating slowly and using other "hyper-mileage" strategies. But there is nothing specific to driving this car that would be different.
