Ok I picked up my '06 RX 400h yesterday. It has the navigation. I don't have the owner's manual yet. How do I tell whether I have the Mark L. sound system in it? Also, is there a way to display the radio/CD music info on the Navigation screen? I'm looking at installing the Neo Prolink PODLEXSL2I Ipod adaptor system in it. Has anyone used this?
Congrats on the new pickup of the 400h, and welcome! To tell if your system is a Mark Levinson it should say on the stock headunit, and letter imprint in Gold letters should say Mark Levinson. If you don't have that then you have the standard premium audio. I do have the Vaistech Ipod with video display on my navi on my 400h, and it's running great. The only drawback is you can't play the videos or look through your pictures once the emergency brake is disengaged. The installation took less than 30min, only if you have the right tool. Please make sure you get a magnetic ratchet, a lot of people lose their bolts in the process of removing the headunit, so please be careful. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me, I hope this helps!
I think you're right. I don't believe I have the ML system. Oh well. Will the standard system I have play DVDs or does one have to have the Vaistech system? If so how does one do it? I tried putting on the parking brake and inserting a DVD but all I got was an error message.
It looks like we're going with a Neolink product to simply hook up the Ipod. I don't think playing DVDs is going to be a high priority.
One reason I'm having to ask these questions is that I haven't gotten the owner's manual yet as it's being shipped. Unfortunately someone forgot to put it in the vehicle.
I just replaced my ML system (since Navi wasn't an option when I bought mine) with an Alpine IVA w505 headunit, iPod adapter, and Blackbird Navi w/ Bluetooth. Drastic, yes, but it was the only way to get a Navi unit since there was no factory nav screen.
