Default I'm thinking of buying a RX 400h - HELP!

I'm thinking about buying an RX 400h but I have a few questions:
1. The year range is the 2006 or 2007. Do they have an IPOD hookup? I'm planning on getting the Navigational systems if that matters.
2. I've test drove a couple of different ones. With each I noticed a slight "hesitation" when accelerating and decelerating and didn't know if this was caused by the switch between the gas and electric motors. The engine didn't seem to be as smooth as I thought it would be.
3. I understand the batteries have a 100,000 mile warranty. I'm planning on getting one with less than 50,000 miles so I assume there is a warranty up to 50,000. What is covered under that warranty? Is it the standard 5 year or 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty?
4. How well do the batteries hold out as the car ages?
5. Are there any additional problems with the vehicle being a hybrid?
6. Is it possible to hookup a small solar panel to charge the batteries during the day while the car sits in a parking lot at work?

Hey Lazabby, welcome to ClubLexus!

I believe there wasn't an option for IPOD during the year range of the 400h your looking at. You might have to hook up an aftermarket system to your vehicle to get a IPOD connected. I believe Lexus/Toyota is offering their modules for I don't remember how much, but it's available. As far as the hesitation you feel, it depends on your driving habits and driving style. It could have been the switch from electric to gas. And the warranty I believe is 4 years 50,000miles. I forgot what's included in the bumper to bumper warranty but should be pretty standard. Maybe some people can fill in on the rest or fill in the blanks for you. I hope that helps, and if I'm wrong please someone correct me. Good luck on your purchase!

1) no iPOD hookup - only aftermarket

2) pretty smooth acceleration in my 400h ... give me smile everytime I step on the pedal when passing ... maybe just your driving habit?

3) warranty varies car to car whether it has extended warranty/ CPO etc ... here's the standard warranty info...
From the first date of purchase ...
Basic: 4 yr. / 50,000 mi.
Drivetrain: 6 yr. / 70,000 mi.
Hybrid Component: 8 yr. / 100,000 mi.
Roadside: 4 yr. / Unlimited mi.

4) the 400h is still fairly new ... I haven't heard of any premature failure of the hybrid components yet ... it's a Lexus so I expect it to be reliable...

5) you need to drive the car often (better don't leave it unattended for 2 weeks+) in order to charge up the batteries

6) not sure .. people make all sorts of mods/ aftermarket kits but do you really need that ?
