My wife really misses her RX300 after we sold it for an Odyssey and now wants the 400h. I'm looking for a used 06 model but it seems none of them come with the RSES that we can find locally. The DVD system is a must for long drives with our kids.

Are there any aftermarket systems that anyone can recommend?

 

Check my prior thread on the after market unit I got for my 2006 Highlander Hybrid. Since these are identical systems, it should work for the RX as well. About $500 for a nice large 10.5" audioVox unit off eBay. It comes with the two wireless headsets and ties into the NAVI radio (but not the Navi screen as I just never got around to doing that part).

You can also get it installed from Lexus as well, I think it will put you back around $2000, but you can also get RES in the head rests. Lexus can do that as well. Go to your local dealership

 

It's taken me awhile to respond but thanks. I didn't know it could be done afterwards by a Lexus dealer.

 

We just sold our Toyota Sequoia with Headrest DVD's and searched and searched for the RES in a 400H, but didn't have much luck or didn't want to pay the premium.

We bought the 400H, but it didn't have the RES.

So! We bought both kids 16gb iPod Touches off Amazon.com. They have some that are direct fullfillment from Amazon that are refurbished for $284 ea (you have to kinda hunt for the "27 new and used" link). 16b iPod Touch on Amazon

At under $600 shipped for 2, we figure we saved half or more, and plus they can be used anywhere. Being refurbed made us more comfortable on not damaging them anymore then they might otherwise be.

Then there is a free program called handbrake that lets you make a small copy a movie from your computer to ipod.

Just an alternative for you since I just went through the same situation.
