Post Blizzaks or Pirelli's

I am looking into getting some winter tires, and I wanted to see the opinions of my fellow forum members.

Well, I would of been a little more specific as to the model of tire for this vehicle. I went with the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-Z3. The choices are limited to Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow, and the Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6. I chose the Bridgestone based on my previous experience with Blizzaks, as well as... I prefered the tire footprint and pattern, as well as the look of the tire looks much nicer than the Pirelli. I wouldn't even consider the Dunlop.

I have had in the past (not specifically for this vehicle)....

Bridgestone (always happy), Pirelli (always surprised with the level of traction, since typically they are more performance oriented than raw traction based), BF Goodrich (ho hum, you pay for traction, you sacrefice everywhere else), Dunlop (not happy), Nokya (extremely over rated, was very disappointed), Vredestein (if you can find them, and if they have your tire size, extremely very very happy), Michelin (hit and miss, usually very good), Toyo (ho humm, not bad not great allround nice).

Cheers,

The disadvantage of the Blizzaks is that the tire is layered with two distinctive compounds, the first half to 65% of the tire is the super sticky winter compound and the balance of the thread is the conventional all season rubber compound.

They are great tires. I have had no problems with them.

Very little road noise as well.
