Has anyone added a subwoofer to the mark levinson system in this vehicle? I was floored that it doesn't have one. I thought this system is supposed to be really nice. I had much nicer stereos 15 years ago.

 

Agreed. It is surprising. Other Mark Levinson designs for the GS and LS vehicles have subwoofers and substantially greater power outputs. It is a surprising omission but consistent with the absence of availability of SAT radio in the first year (06) and the fact that in the current year (07) keyless ignition is not available. Other premium SUV audio systems in the 07 model year (Acura MDX and BMW X5) have surpassed the Mark Levinson system by substantial measures (power output, bass extension, etc.)

 

Sorry to pull up an old thread. But has anyone actually hook a subwoofer to a ML system before? If so, what's the best way to do, and what's your set up?

 

ML in RX sucks ... very disappointed with the sound quality... my Harman Kardon sound system in my 2000 bimmer was way better ~

 

I'm in the research stage of this project. I've already replaced my ML headunit with an Alpine IVA W505. My next stage is to bypass the ML amp and add something else. I'll be adding a small sub while that's being done. If I'm still not happy, I will start replacing the ML speakers.

On a side note, I recall the sticker saying that the ML in the RX has 11 speakers. I'm able to locate 9 (1 center, 6 in the front, 2 in the back door). Does anyone know where the other 2 speakers are supposed to be?

 

I'm getting close to install my Eclipse Competition class D mono block back in along with my 10W6v2 sub. I also have a 4 channel and a 5 channel Eclipse amps at my disposal as well as MB Quarts Premium speakers

 

Hey I just upgraded my sub in the back of my 02 GS430 and it is sick... The ML sub is absolute crap after seeing what it looks like. I will put a full post up this week with photo's. It was a simple swap of sub woofer... I dropped in a JL Audio 10iB4 10" woofer 8 ohms. I bought it from Woofersetc (http://www.woofersetc.com/p2752/10IB...-Subwoofer.htm) Then used a 4 channel Alpine Amp i already had to push it... All you really need is a mono amp. Had the guys at Bestbuy install it. It sounded sick clean ad tight, did i mention loud.... Love it man.. this is the best possible set up's on all ML or regular sub replacements...
