Yes, switching shiftknob should be easy too, provided the wood available for the LS600h matches those for the 460.

Wasn't it stated that the wood for each car will be made from one tree, to make the mood more consistent throughout the car? Do you think this may create some significant differences in color?

I think as long as it's the same kind of wood trim offered by Lexus, I don't think there will be significant difference in color that's noticeable even if not from the same tree. Maybe wood pattern between different panels may show some inconsistencies if not from the same tree, but I don't think that's too significant for a small curled up suface area like the shift ****.

Like other mods such as adding an aftemarket body kit, you will not get the exact factory paint from Lexus on the kit & may not be a 100 % color match, but the difference is usually subtle enough that most people won't even notice.

I still have the 02 ES DVD and remembered hearing them talking about the wood. They stated that the wood in the car comes from the same tree, if one piece is damaged like in production from the car, all the wood every piece is taken out and replaced. thats what i like to hear, thats attention to detail as well, and thats just for the ES, so im sure the LS has that same thing goin for it

Yes this is true. This is the same for the New IS and New GS wood as well. The same piece of wood is taken to different places for the process and returned back to the assembly line together in one car. Yamaha (pianos) is the one that actually does the wood for the New IS. I assume it's the same across the board.

^^^
I believe this is a Lexus tradition since 1989, the brochure I have for the 1LS talks about the wood from a 'company known for exquisitely crafted pianos.'

Yep you are right. I recall that from the original LS400 and ES250 brochures. And obviously Toyota has a long standing history with The Yamaha Corporation startinig with the legendary 2000GT sports car.

yup like enigma354 said, it's been the case since the first ls400. that's the attention to details.

but then with that said, i have seen a lot of wood before. like andrew said, you mix them and most of the time, you can't really tell the difference
