Actually, it seem to make sense to me.They want to position it ~ midway between the GS350 & GS460 in performance :

GS350 - 305 hp, 277 lb.ft.torque
GS450h - 335 hp, 320 lb.ft.torque
GS460 - ~370/380 hp / torque

Yes the GS450h has the new 5th Gen (Denso/Fujitsu-Ten) Nav interface just like the New IS and the new 2007 Toyota Camry.

Isn't it strange than the left ( driver's ) heating and A/C vent in the GS is a different shape and bigger than the right ( passenger's ) heating and A/C vent?

33.1mpg is an awesome real-world gas mileage for a 300+hp sports sedan. Funny how they follow Audi's model to make virtual gears out of a CVT too.

Do they have any comment on the car's performance, handling and the overall dynamics? Thanks again for the heads up.

Since we haven't seen the German article, I hope the gas mileage is actually what they got from testing the car, & not just a quote from Lexus sources converted to U.S. gallon ( or is that U.S. gallon or Imperial gallon ? ) . . . . . .

Some more Translation: ...... the Lexus R&D Engineer drove with the 450h full speed on a steep uphill german Autobahn nearby City of Trier....they tried to squeaze the juice out of the batteries....not possible...there was always enough batt energy (SOC) avaiable....

The 3.5 ice is heavily optimized to function as hybrid powersource...it uses extreme VVti (variable valve) timings.....

No idling...ice tries alway to run under load ...or shuts off...giving excellent energy effiency...

The combustion is reduced to only 50% at ice start up...providing perfect smooth power flow between electrical and ice power...

Thanks for another great post!! Good to see how the Germans are impressed by the technologies behind the car. The Lexus guys tried to drain the battery by running uphills but simply couldn't. That says a lot about the superiority of Lexus's hybrid technology.

0-100km/h in 5.7s (which means 0-60mph in 5.5-5.6s) is pretty well in line with the 450h's nomenclature too (even though I'm a bit disappointed by the total horsepower output of 335hp). Throw that 33.1mpg into the mix, and you've got a winner.
