Metric factory figures are:

Average 8.1 l/100km
I used 2 types of driving styles in the city. 1st normal driving, did not brake the speed limit, didn't overtake agressively, didn't accelerate hard form the stoplight - I got 9.1-9.2 l/100km (25.8 mpg).
2nd driving style I used, was very agressive, could even call it stupid. Accelerated full throttle all the time I could, overtook everybody very fast who was in front of me, at stoplights accelerated very fast, I was over speedlimit all the time, belive me RX400h accelerates like crazy, comparable with 4.4 V8 BMW X5, but the acceleration is seamless and overwhelmingly torquey smooth even with hard acceleration - it's was quite a new experience for me. Then I got 10.8-11.2 l/100km (21.7 mpg) in the city.
I also got to do some highway driving, but it was raining heavily, with cruise control on, I got 7.8 l/100km (30.1 mpg).

Should've been the other way around according to Lexus. 30.1mpg is also higher than the advertised highway figure of 28mpg, which is very good. And glad to hear how impressed you are with the acceleration. The "400" nomenclature is no joke. All in all, a strong showing of the RX400h.
AND, those are AWESOME results. Our Prado, which weights 2,000kg and is powered via 3.0 166hp, 410nm/tq turbo diesel engine (torquiest 4cly turbo diesel in production) - which is also the most frugal in its class (Touareg, XC90, Mitsu, Nissan, etc) gets 10-11 L/100km during careful stop&go city driving and 12-13 L/100km when you push it a bit (still not crazy) in the city. And on highway it gets some 8.5-9l/100km at around 60-70mph...

Actually, those figures are for Prado that has been "chipped", has around 205hp and 420nm/tq. Thats the one we have in our test fleet and drive around. I have spent quite some time in it.

Just some comparison to pretty darn nice turbo diesel from Toyota, which is also a lot slower than RX400h.
Gotta say awesome for SUV!!! There is no way V6 diesels from MB or BMW are close to it in economy, let along anything else. This is an big thing for Europe where people care a lot about fuel consumption.

my experience in test driving the 2007 rx400h, the acceleration is smooth and the pick up is amazing. when i first got in however, i thought the car was dead. I turned the key and didnt hear the engine. Told the dealer that his car was dead, what gives. The dealer next to me said, look at the dash, what does it say. I told him, it says ready. He then said, okay, your good. Now go ahead and drive it
I was like...WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Never driven a Hybrid and had no idea how quiet they were. Quite a nice surprise for a car with the power it has.
Now if we can only get the suspensions to tighten up a bit.
