Cam Spin During Timing Belt Replacement
I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid which has the 3MZ-FE, which I understand to be an interference engine. I am following the attached video where the technician is replacing the belt on a 1MZ-FE. He shows how to replace the cam and crank seals in this video as well and mentions "unloading" the cams...the rear on spins and he mentions that its not a problem because the 1MZ-FE is a non-interference engine. If this happens on the 3MZ-FE, is this a problem? I did a belt replacement on my 2002 RX300 with the 1MZ-FE and one of the cams did spin but I just lined everything up as I was putting on the new belt and all was fine. I may be being a bit too cautious, a slight spin of the cam is a far cry from the belt breaking while the engine is running but I do want to be as sure as I can be that all will be OK if I get a slight spin. Thanks for all comments....
