Hi folks, I had to replace the lower half of the hybrid battery case in my partners 2008 RX400H about a year ago, and in the process we ordered the wrong replacement case. So I'm stuck with a lower case for the (very similar but not exactly the same) Toyota Hylander hybrid battery (I think that's the one is fits).
I also have the somewhat rusted case of the original RX400H battery, which I removed and cleaned up. It could be used again if someone is prepared to do some work on it, and it has the harnesses still attached.
I have tons of photos and the Model Numbers of these two cases and can post them if there is any interest in taking these off our hands for shipping cost only. Just trying to stop them from going to the dump.
Also I'm a newbie to the forum and I don't believe I'm allowed to post anything officially for sale until my 14 days probation has passed.
FYI the dealer here in Daytona Beach had quoted my partner $6,500 to repace the hybrid battery, but I convinced her that we should take a look at it because we weren't sure it was actually the battery itself at fault. After some sleuthing help from my son, we discovered it was all to do with the (apparently well documented) water leak into the battery area under the rear seat, resulting in a rusted out battery case, and the notorious "check hybrid system" fault message coming up as the engine died.
Long story short, I cleaned everything out, repaired the rust, drilled new drain holes, plugged the drains in the roof channels that were letting in the water, bought a replacement lower hybrid battery case on eBay for $250-, transferred everything over to the 'new' case, tested every cell bank in the battery (they were all operating at almost-new condition, amazing after 14 years), and put it all back together for a total cost of about $450 (which included buying the other wrong case as mentioned above).
Was a fun project for someone who had never laid hands on a hybrid battery system before, but all the kudos goes to the guys at Palmetto Battery Pros in Charleston SC, who posted their step-by-step "hybrid battery rebuild how-to videos" on YouTube, for all of us to benefit from. Oh, plus a guy in, of all places, Nigeria, who repairs complicated electronic vehicles in his back yard, literally outside under a tree, and posts videos on how he does it, on YouTube. I kid you not, and the guy is good.

Great info. I also found the Palmetto Battery Pros video. It's a great reference. I do not need to do anything yet with my 2008 400h hybrid battery pack but can you provide the link for the guy from Nigeria?Originally Posted by RX400Handyman

Apologies for the delay, here is the link to the videos I found from the guy in Nigeria.
