Default 2023 RX500h Owner Feedback

Looking for owners feedback. I like the looks and the fact that is has more power and luxury features. There is a nice used one in my area with 20k miles. Doing a quick search, it looks like there were a couple of major issues with this model to include the hybrid system and transmission. Were these issues resolved? Any other issues and ones that are outstanding? How do you like it overall? Trying to decide between this and a use 350 luxury.

We love our 500h.

The trans issues were resolved with build dates after summer 2024. Earlier RXs may have had replacement transmissions and ECU updates. Ours hasn't experienced any issues of that kind, yet. Not aware of any hybrid issues (unless you count gripes about MPG, as an issue).

As with any 'performance' model, fuel mileage is sacrificed for speed.

The electric assist really enables the RX to 'jump' from a standing start. The rear drive motor makes the car feel as if it is RWD.
The rear steering provides the sensation of drifting around curves..and it allows very small turning radius when parking. <---Of course, you need to turn off some of the driving 'nannies' to get the full effect.

Ours was a Zone Office Show Car, so it had every option except the rear seat sun-shades. Purchased with 3000 miles on it.

I can't speak to the 2023 model specifically as I have the 25, but I love absolutely everything about the 500h from the hybrid trans, looks, interior features, and such. Most 500h's are fully loaded, however they have a 'lower' tier that does not include the larger headunit nor Triple Beam headlights. These are the two main differences that I have seen from a lot of invoices/factory stickers. You still cannot mix and match certain features (I haven't seen a 500h without the pano roof here in the US), so be aware of what you're getting and looking at features that matter to you. Imo it really boils down to whether you want the power, looks, and the Direct4 (rear-wheel steering). The rear-wheel steering plus the power is what sold it for me and it was hugely worth it. I forgot about the SEATS! Make sure you can at least sit in one because the side bolstering can be confining, and that could be a dealbreaker. For me, it fits me perfectly and everyone else in my household, to me it's more comfy and supportive than the NX/Accord.

I rear park the 500h into the garage (single) on the left side my curved driveway and it takes precision to not ding the side mirrors, and the Direct4 for me is a game changer at slow and high speeds. We already have a 350h in the garage on the other side so for me, I didn't care much about the fuel efficiency and only evaluated it as a perk since I only drive 1-2x a week. For a car that has this amount of power and weight, getting anywhere from 25-31mpg is really good with my driving habits. Obviously temper expectations if you want to have a little fun with it.

We had a 2023 RX Luxury from the dealer as a loaner and I took it back home to see what the experience was like. I clearly remember the right dash was sagging/popping out and this was a reported issue from many. To me, the 350 just did not feel good to me in terms of driving/steering/power/throttle/suspension response, and when parking in the garage especially with that curve, took a few adjustments due to it not having the rear-wheel steering. The tight turning radius on the 500h is really good for a car this length, and I know, because I keep comparing it to my 10th gen Accord which is practically identical in length at 192". It's really significant and something you'll have to experience.

Haha I do remember you saying so in your other threads, you got a great deal! But yeah here in the US, it's weird that we don't get those in the 500h, but it exists overseas. Not that I really care for them that much since I got 15% ceramics on top of the already factory tint and no one ever sits back there, but I would have liked to have the 450h+ side-passenger button to move the seat electrically (like how Genesis does it, which I think was when I first saw it). Adds to the laziness I know, but hey it's convenient! They probably excluded in the 500h to lower costs I guess.
